Don’t Wait Until You’re Thirsty to Drink Water
It may be back to school time, but it’s still technically summer for another seven weeks, and the heat and humidity definitely reflect that.
With the warmer temperatures, it’s key to stay on top of your fluid intake in order to prevent dehydration. Thirst is actually a late sign of dehydration, so waiting until you feel thirsty to seek out fluids isn’t your best bet. The easiest way to check your hydration status is to monitor the color of your urine. It doesn’t have to be completely clear, but look for a light lemonade color. If it looks more like iced tea, it’s time to step up your fluids. If you struggle with gulping down water alone, you can even get creative with infused water recipes (pictured below).
